Commercial hydrated lime is generally in dry powder form. It is obtained by slaking quicklime with water to satisfy its chemical affinity for water, so as to convert calcium oxide into hydroxide. Depending on the type of quicklime used and the hydration conditions adopted, the content of chemically combined water varies, as detailed below.
Limestone lime powder: Under high temperature conditions, only the calcium oxide part in quicklime is hydrated. The chemical composition of the produced lime powder is as follows: calcium oxide 46%~48%, magnesium oxide 33%~34%, moisture 15%~17%.
